More analysis of survival likelihood:
I looked to see if I could find registered siblings of both parents
using the online database. Since CHANGING SEASONS is new, there might
be something in the R&I's from this century, but since they aren't
online (hint hint), I can't search there.
So I looked at grandparents of CHANGING SEASONS to see what I could
find: CHANGING SEASONS:Seedling #KK 772-1: (Brazilian Holiday X (Chinese
Treasure x Bristo Magic))
BRAZILIAN HOLIDAY is AA 1382-1: (S 320-2: ((Gay Parasol x Bold Hour sib)
x Bristo Magic) x Sweeter Than Wine) X Mulberry Punch.
MULBERRY PUNCH has produced BLAEBERRY PIE (B.L.C. Dodsworth, R. 1998),
MERLOT (Schreiner, R. 1999), RIP CITY (Schreiner, R. 1999), SERENE
MOMENT (Schreiner, R. 1998). Bill B says MERLOT is a weed in
Mississippi, and RIP CITY is a weed here. Encouraging. Don't know the
others.
BRISTO MAGIC has produced
COUNTRY CHARM (Schreiner, R. 1998)[died], LEADING EDGE (Schreiner's, R.
1989), OSAKA (Joseph Ghio, R. 1991), SHIRLEY TRIO (James McWhirter, R.
1995), SO FINE (Schreiner, R. 1996)[poor], SWEETER THAN WINE
(Schreiner's, R. 1988)[too soon to tell]. Not so encouraging.
I couldn't find S 320-2, Gay Parasol x Bold Hour sib, or Gay Parasol x
Bold Hour in pedigrees of anything else that was registered. So that's
not encouraging either.
Gee whiz, this is $50 worth of research - they should pay <me>! <g>
CHINESE FORTUNE is LISA ANN X CHILD OF FORTUNE.
I found three sibs to CHINESE FORTUNE:
HUSH AT TWILIGHT (B. Blyth, R. 1981), POLYNESIAN PRINCESS (B. Blyth, R.
1981), TOMORROW'S CHILD (B. Blyth, R. 1981). I haven't tried to grow
any of these, but at least this sounds promising for a good chance of
pretty faces.
I think I have talked myself into trying this one eventually...
