That's interesting because generally July is hot and drier. And heavy rain as you describe it certainly fits my area in most years for the month of August. Maybe it is a good thing by that time of year the irises have a lot of companion plants (read weeds) to help soak up the moisture and since I don't do a lot of cultivating there isn't much possibility for them to incur any damage to the rhizome that would let rot set in.
I have been trying to plant irises that I think may be more prone to rot near my lilac bushes with the thought that a lot of the moisture will be sucked out of the soil by the lilacs....so far Edith Wolford is still alive and blooming (made it through two winters) planted next to the lilacs.

Heavy rain (2 to 3 inches in 24 hrs) or prolonged rainy spells (a week with half an inch per day) during heat of summer (mid to upper 90s), <especially> following a month long <hot, dry> spell is death for some cultivars here. In the past, that has been especially true for some Blyth cultivars I've tried (not to pick on B - true for selections from many other hybridizers selecting in dry summer climates).
Some catalogs say in their cultural directions "avoid overhead watering, especially during warm weather" (!) That's a warning to me that their selections may not do very well here.
<Yes, we can get very heavy rains at this time of year in the southeastern area of the province. It mainly comes in August here, but these rains usually only seem to cause leaf spot not rot. My main problems with rot occurs in the spring. Sandra SE Manitoba>
Or maybe you can find out if anybody else in your general area has had success with CHINESE TREASURE? Or maybe someone else knows how it does in the zone of despair?
