Even when a hybridizer gives a cultivar a name with a color in the name it
doesn't always mean that is really the color. In that regard I always think
of CRANBERRY CRUSH, which I have never seen in my own or any other garden
looking anything like a cranberry color. Every time I see it--a beautiful
iris, by the way--I wonder how on earth the hybridizer ever chose that name
for that particular iris. Then again, maybe in the soil where it originated
that cultivar did really have a cranberry color.
