Oklahoma Sunset. TB-M-S9D (Grisso 1941); Callis 1941; R., 1940
This is taken from the 1949 checklist, pg 179. Interesting enough, it is the same page as 'Ola Kala' - the famous Sass yellow.
People who wonder why the checklist is taking sooooo long to complete, well, that is the full entry in the checklist. Compare that to the modern entries.
You provided a description that is much richer in detail. Here is my interpretation of the entry's meaning:
Oklahoma Sunset - The cultivar name
TB-M - it's a tall bearded with a medium bloom season
S9D - it's a blend: bitone/bicolor pink to red toned, dark tint/shade
Grisso - the breeder
1941 - the introduction date
Callis - the introducer
1941 - the introduction date/catalogue year
R., 1940 - the registration year.
As to where a replacement might be found... well, I just don't know. I have one historic iris in my garden (my g-grandfather's) and I considered myself lucky to get it. There are many HIPS folk who might be able to help and you might be able to find some people who are geographic junkies; that is, they collect states. Me, I'm just a pack rat.
Regards,
Sandy Ives (back in Ottawa, where the snow only covers half the garden now and I saw one crocus in tight bud)

I had an iris "OKLAHOMA SUNSET" that I acquired from my first true
irisarian in 1953. I've always wondered why I could find no information on
it as it was very unique. Over the years I lost it and have looked for it
several times but could find no reference. The only description I had was
my own - never found it in a catalog.
This is the description I gave it: Yellow throat & beard, purple falls with edges splashed unevenly with lavender. Lavender standards.
I'm sure it was named by a local yocal and never registered but would love to have a start of it again as it was different from any of my other iris. <
