Re: Mulch

(I originally sent this to the iris-species list where it was sent first as a legitimate warning to folks)
   
  When I first read the original post (which was sent out with a disclaimer that it was 'rumor' not 'fact'), I thought the termite couldn't survive the mulching and the sealing it the air-tight bags exposed to heat. Be that as it may (or may not :-), after the Katrina tragedy and resulting chaos by government on all levels, the following makes one shudder (from the Snopes article):

The contractors mulching and hauling the debris know the regulations and are abiding by them according to the quarantine requirements.   With folks still struggling for life's essentials, who in the heck would have any faith in anyone calling the hotline?
