In my seedlings the earliest is not the biggest.
I have one seedling 05-49-G1 w/ six big leaves 1/2'' wide that is nine inches tall whose germ date is Oct 13, 05. That is a full month after the first seed to germinate, 05-150A-G1, (Sept 8,05) which measures barely six inches and four leaves. The second largest seedling, 05-43-G1 six big leaves, six inches tall at the point the cat chewed, germed Sept 19, 05.
For those of you who have to know the pedigrees:
05-49-G1: Tyson sdlg 97-14-11 X 03-09-2(JESSE'S SONG X REBOUND). JS and R usually race to be first to bloom in my garden.
05-150A-G1: Tyson sdlg 93-25-3 X SCORPIO
Of the two Tyson sdlgs I can tell you that 93-25-3 has the more aggressive growth habit. I didn't get a pedigree from Tyson on that one. Tyson 97-14-11:(PAINTED PLIC x CROWD PLEASER) X JITTERBUG. Both make very good pollen though... lol.

I used to do that. However, now that I have more space, I've started to
question it.
Was I planting the strongest or just the earliest?
Maybe I can think of a way to plant them all in a way to tell, or may just
buy more flags!
Bye the way, I don't like the flags with the pvc stakes. The metal ones
rust but the pvc is much harder to get in the ground.
