Siberians

I just this week had a chance to see Marty Schaffer's M.A.S.S.
Medley preview slides, and they are beautiful. Some of the gardens
are landscaped beautifully with good plant combinations, and there
are lots of new (new to me, anyway) plants introduced and some very
promising seedlings. So many great Siberians! I was impressed by the deep
blue-black of Carmen Jeanne (Helsley r.93) and the bright raspberry pink of
Raspberry Rainbow (Fulton 96), the wide falls and round flower form of
Jatinwane (Helsley r.93), some very nice-looking seedlings from
Hollingworth, Schaffer-Sacks, Stahly, and others. There were some nice
species and hybrids there too. As with all of these, it is difficult
to narrow down a set of favorites. I simply need a bigger yard.
The slides are a good complement to the descriptions in _The Siberian
Iris_ and either or both should convince any fence-sitter to plan to
attend a convention.

If these look as good up close and personal and with their bodies
attached, we are certainly in for a treat.
