Amy, welcome to the iris-l and enjoy. Iris membership is also down in
the two clubs I belong to here in California. Also the National
American Iris Society (AIS) is down significantly. I don't know exactly
what is going on. Perhaps its our modern, fast paced, both parents
working society that dosen't have time to garden and get involved in
clubs. I do know that the Fresno Iris Society has a membership drive
planned for this year as it has lost half it's membership. I don't know
what advice to give you exactly, but try and promote iris where and
whenever you can.
Perhaps some board members of the AIS, some who are on the iris-l,
could bring this to the attention of the board at their spring meeting
in Dearborn Michigan.
