Welcome to iris-L. This will be one of the best sources of information you
could wish for. If you have a question - just go ahead and ask!
I'll send you one of our catalogues, although we are a commercial nursery and
tend not to give plants away!
If you are not a member of AIS - join now. There is also the British Iris
Society which is small but perfectly formed. There are also moves afoot to
form a European Iris Society, but I know little about this at the moment.
There are also iris societies in Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands
(I believe). All of these groups are much smaller than the AIS.
Good books for beginners:
Royal Horticultural Society Wisley Handbook on Irises
Growing Irises by Linnegar and Cassidy
The World of Irises - an AIS publication which contains info of use to iris
enthusiasts at all levels.
there are several others that have been mentioned recently on this list.
