Sorry, in my head long dive...

I forgot to introduce myself. I am a member of AIS. I live in the Okanagan
Valley which is about a zone 5 USDA I believe. If you are familiar with
geography and climates we have a semi-arid region here. Were not to cold or
dry that we can't grow a lot of different Iris. We do tend to have high pH
soils in the Valley which can cause problems if you don't amend and treat
the soil for sensitive Iris.

If you haven't already gathered I live in close vicinity to J. Montgomery.
In fact I am in process of continuing the business that John started
(Monashee Perennials). I have a lot to learn. Even as a horticulturist it
seems that every day your are learning something new and wonderful. In fact
just when you think you know something you find out just how much you
really don't know.

I appreciate the talk especially on hybridizing. I have never done it
before. I think I might do a little dabbling this spring. It forces me to
review and use my schooling in genetics and biology, which I have forgotten
because I have used it very little since graduating. I have mainly worked
as a landscaper till now.

Since I have already submitted to Iris - L previously ( missed the part
about introducing my self) , I must say I really enjoy it. I found out from
J. Montgomery about Iris - L. I said to John that I was disappointed when I
didn't receive e-mail for several days. Yesterday I opened my mailbox and
received 124 messages. So much for feeling lonely!

I look forward to chatting with you all and making lots of new friends!
