Hi,
Just joined the list the other day and after reading all the mail that
I've received, especially yesterday, I wonder how long I will last.
Seems people stray from the subject alittle but will give it a try.
I am a iris freak, becoming that about four years ago. Actually I've
been raising irises for over 20 years but they really got to me just
recently. My 'collection' consists of roughly 400 different irises,
mainly TB's but a few drawfs and intermediates. I have about 40
rebloomers which have surprised me at times and made me cry at others
when the snow turned my bloom stocks to mush. I started hybridizing
three years ago with my first blooms (3) last year. One has promise,
maybe. Will give it another shot with one of its parents.
I live in Grass Valley, CA which is 50 miles to the east of Sacramento.
I really don't know the zone but I'm in the Sierra foothills at 2200'
which means we get snow occasionally, and a hard freeze every once in
awhile. One drawf is in bloom now and 'Destry Rides Again' has nice
bloom stocks for its early spring bloom and the others are growing
rapidly with our unseasonally warm temperature of 70 degrees the other
day.
I think this will be fun. I'm not new to computers, it's been my lifes
work, but only on the big ones. These PC's and the WWW are interesting
and a new experience for me.
