Art - In the Spring/Summer they need 1/2 day of sun at least - more is
better. If you have good morning exposure and shade in mid-late afternoon
that is good also since hot afternoon sun can cause problems with bloom. The
past several years, the days have been quite warm during bloom season so the
shade protects the flowers.
depending on where you live - winter sun is not a problem. Hope that helps.
BTW - If you grow reblooming iris they should be in a place with full sun -
better to rebloom by.
