I don't know about iris (though it sounds like a good thing to try), but
I planted signet marigolds (which Burpee also sells) last year around my
little vegetable garden and I had no problems whatsoever with any pests.
(Which Ogden's "Cooks Garden" catalog had recommended doing.)
