I have spoken on this subject before. In TX and in MS, I never
had any problems with moving them in the spring. They catch the late
spring rains and get established before the heat of summer.
Others have said irises transplanted in the spring will not bloom
the next year. That is an "old 'wife's' tale" as far as I am concerned at
least in Zones 7/8
