Moles don't eat plants, they are carnivores feeding on grubs and earthworms.
Bit of mole lore: Scottish nobles used to toast "the little gentleman in
black velvet" because the hated King William (of William and Mary fame) was
killed when his horse stumbled over a mole hill.
