I have a TB that I moved out of a crowded plot in Fall of '95. I am not
sure what it is. Last year a little neighbor boy who was taking a walk
with me through the garden, lost his balance and stepped on the one and
only bloomstalk. The iris grew vigorously, still unknown.
This spring new bloomstalks were appearing on this iris near the corner
of the alley where you turn into my driveway. After several roofers came
to give estimates on a new roof, I noticed that one had driven through
this iris clump as he turned the corner. Two bloom stalks were crushed.
I proceeded to surround that corner of my garden with tomato stakes and
tied to them fluorescent pink plastic ribbon to warn drivers away from my
irises. Several more bloomstalks have appeared. I was just walking in
the garden, looking at Crimson King, and noticed that a bloomstalk on
this iris had "fallen" over and broken! It is not very far along, but I
put it in a vase of water.
There is still a bloomstalk remaining.
What is this iris that has to suffer so much?!
Will I ever see it bloom?
