Rima,
Yes, probably the same, however if you can take a few leaves of iris
foliage chewed or sometimes a dwarf stalk chewed off then they are not
that big a deal. Keep an eye on them for in some years they are worse
than in others. I don't think a collar would work as well around an
iris clump.
As for slugs and wood ashes it may work but i've heard some using
crushed egg shells instead.
