I happen to like ruffles and lace on my iris flowers. In my garden
are four or five very old varietys kept out of mostly sentimental reasons.
One very old lavender and pink bicolor with very small blooms on tall
slendar stalks happens to be planted in the middle of a pack of newer
plants. It dosn't look bad there because it is so different from the pack
it lends variety and contrast to the others. Now I wouldn't mind seeing
this plant with a few more branches and buds then it would be fantastic in
some flower arrangements. I don't like narrow hafts but perhaps something
of older form could be bred with narrow pointed petals . Oh well variety
lends the spice to life. This train of thought makes me think maybe I'll
use some of the older things in the future. That old lavender bicolor
might come up with something nice crossed on sterling prince and the
results back crossed on the old unlabeled blue for more flowers and
branching. And no I can't wait for bloom season to make like a bee and do
some pollinating.
