Marte, I am hobbled by an impecunious upbringing. The thought of indulging
in more than one of any unfamilar plant horrifies me, even when I know
having a few extras may be prudent backup and will make a fine show
quickly. I think my mother must have been scared by an old witch in the
woods who told her "one is all you should need!"
TBs increase so quickly for me all I ever want is a start. If I hatch some
grand plan requiring multiples of other plants, I order seeds. When they
don't sprout, I forget the grand plan.
But I am incapable of design. I'm the person helpful Fixits are always
loaning books to, books about Gertrude Jekyll. My garden "design" looks
like a pile of stinky puppies.
So, to answer your question, I buy one rhizome at a time. But I'm a
creative incompetent.
