Hi Jeff,
On page 70 of The World of Iris in the last paragraph is the explanation
of the background of BLACK FOREST.
To paraphrase: ETHIOP QUEEN crossed to DYMIA resulted in BLACK FOREST,
a short seedling with the deepest black then known. HARMONY the parent
of DYMIA is thought to be out of I. aphylla.
Many years ago Bob told us that BLACK FOREST was out of I. aphylla
breeding.
