REB: CULT: Sprng Cleaning

From: "Char Randall" <charandmike@email.msn.com>

Trying to get a jump start on spring cleaning in some newer beds. Some of
the REB that had bloomstalks in various stages of development at the onset
of freezes and winter now have a very thick almost mushy (partially decayed)
stalk still attached. Esp. on Buckwheat and Earl of Essex. The ends have
started to wither and decay but has a watery, limp base still firmly
attached. From recent postings I guess this may be the aborted bloomstalks?
But now how do I clean these up or cut from the rhizome? We are still
frosting at night, rainy and windy. The new growth is just barely starting.
Am I getting too impatient and should I just wait for a little bit for
warmer weather? My other TB's (non rebloomers) are all ok and cleaning is
almost done. By cleaning I just mean picking up and removing the dried and
loose leaves. Thank you for any suggestions.
