SDB: Serenity Prayer

From: "Chris Hollinshead" <cris@netcom.ca>

Yup folks, this seems to be one tough iris!
This variety was one of the unwilling candidates in the off-season iris
torture testing that recently took place!

Many of you may recall last month my postings on plants that had, shall we
say, forgotten to plant themselves last year. Briefly, these plants (TBs and
SDBs) had been out of the ground since last August until January. Finally in
January I shaved all the roots off and potted them inside ala Walter Moores
and Glenn Simmons. As this group already knows from my reports they are all
doing phenomenally well. SERENITY PRAYER was one of the quicker ones to
recover, putting roots out of the bottom of the 5 inch dia pot in less than
two weeks. I actually had expectations of zero recovery for the SDB
varieties with their small rhizomes as I did not think there could be any
life force left when they were so extra dried out! They all continue to grow
well inside and will be planted outside when our conditions permit.
(probably mid April)

Thank you Perry for creating this real nice iris... and a tough one too.
Welcome to Iris-Talk.

LOTS of snowing and blowing here yesterday... I'm just down the road so to
speak (90 miles) from Kathy Guest and the rest of the Buffalo, NY iris
fanatics...
Spring is coming though! My calender says so!
