If y'all are wondering what that was all about. I'm in charge of the
convention booklet. I sent letters out to all the participating hybridizers
who have guests here. If they had (a) named varieties without an intro date
yet and/or (b) seedlings under number, I contacted them to see if all the
info was still accurate. For example, we had about 15 seedlings from
Schreiners which have now been named and are being introduced this year. As
the updated info comes in, I update the guest iris database and notify each
gardener growing that particular variety. The database goes to the person
in charge of printing out the convention labels. This way, hopefully, the
convention handbook AND the tags in the gardens will be current. There's
nothing more irritating than going to a convention garden and seeing your
brand new introduction still lookin' like a seedling, because the committee
didn't update their information....
