Re: OT: weather

Hello Jeff and Sharon,

I think both of you are probably correct. However, I've long since
learned to take predicted temps with some skepticism. A predicted
low of 27 may very well be 21 or 22 here on my exposed hill. It is
very chilly today and if it clears today as predicted and the wind dies
at dusk and is restricted to daylight hours as is normal, there could
well be five or six hours of very low temps for two nights duration.
It is primarily the arilbreds I'm trying to protect. Most got zapped
last year with a cold snap, even tho the buds were well down in the
fans. I'm hoping to shorten the length of cold exposure and to keep
the ground level temps somewhat higher to give some protection to
those buds in the fans. I'm not very optimistic and can't imagine
making a habit of doing this. An experiment for me, I guess. Still,
if it gets too cold, there will be damage based on past experience
here. Many of the plants have progressed much further in their
growth than is normal for this time of year. I have a couple of stalks
just short of showing color.
