Hello Folks,
Well, the silk tents are removed. It was clear, a smidgen below
30 and very windy when I stumbled to the coffee pot. When the
box support under the silk was taken off, color was showing on
the bud of CELESTE AZUL (Shockey '75). This one appears to
only have the single terminal bud - a large bud. Would this be a
characteristic of this arilbred? Also, assuming the wind doesn't
rip stalk and bud off today and blow it into the next county, if
another freeze puts it in danger, could I cut it successfully and
see the bloom? How much color needs to be apparent before
cutting is successful? I seldom cut bloomstalks, so am not at
all knowledgable on this point.

Texas Zone 7 where the unguicularis still has a few blooms and
the rosy orchid bletilla next door make them look blue by contrast.
