Dear Listers,
This is the first time I have heard of the above. The TBIS is not
trying to overpower or intimidate anybody or any section. I would
suggest a reading of TBIS bylaws. This would clear up all of the
myths and untruths about the intent of TBIS. There is to be NO
duplication or 'take-over' whatsoever of long-established AIS
services.
Did you know that there are AIS Board members who are members of
TBIS?
I have known nearly all of the TBIS Board
members for twenty-five to thirty years, and I know them to be
honest, hard-working people (witness the TALL TALK), totally without
an ulterior motive. Most are lifetime members of AIS, including
myself. I would not join something that would destroy part of my
livelihood. I have advertised in the BAIS for over twenty years, and
some of the TBIS board members have too. Why would lifetime members
seek to destroy something they have joined for a life time?
Most of the naysayers were not around during the founding stages
of TBIS. Some joined rather recently so they could make it appear
that TBIS had sinister desires and they have continued to spread
their unholy gospel.
There have even been rumors that TBIS

Like, SLI, ASI, etc., we want to be a cooperating society. Please
tell me what is wrong with that? Is SLI a 'completely separate
organization?' They are listed in every BAIS.

overlap.
If TBIS decides to have a convention or tours, they will be
a year before or after an AIS Convention. Last year the TBIS meeting
along with garden tours took place a year before the OKC convention.
The same thing is happening this year in Dallas. The TBIS will meet
at the Dallas PRE-convention tour - a year before the Dallas
convention.. I should also add that there will be TBIS meetings
(like sectional/cooperating society meetings) held each year at the
AIS conventions.
Many doomsday folk are speaking without TBIS bylaws or an issue of
TALL in their hands. They are saying, ' I heard....' And what they
heard is what somebody else heard....along with a little
embellishment thrown in for good measure.
Christy, and others who have asked, write Ruth Simmons for a copy of
the bylaws and back issues of TALL TALK for evidence.
Don't just take my word for it.
