I'm not sure that this would change much on the Symposium. First,
even though dedicated irisarians may grow many types, the average Joe
and Jill will mainly be growing TBs. I'm not saying that this right or
wrong, but they can buy TBs at Frank's Nursery, not i. tectorum.
Second, the number of people who actually send in their votes is so
low, that the chances of having an obscure variety on the ballot make
the list seems very low. What make the list are those varieties that a
lot of people have.
Maybe the Bulletin could publish the "top choices" lists from the
various sections. At least things like spurias and SDBs would get some
time in the spotlight.
