Folks, are we MULCHING our Louisianas in the winter?  Even this far south, I
do.  A couple of years I've not gotten around to it, and lucked out with a
mild winter that year.  I just use a light fluffy straw or hay around the
bases.  Some years we lose bloom, or have aborted stalks, when we have our
notorious late freezes.  But then the TB's fall victim too in years like
that.

A friend of mine grew Louisianas (and bloomed them) in CENTRAL ALBERTA
CANADA.  C'mon.
