We are fertilizing our iris now with the alfalfa soup mixture. The alfalfa
is in the form of hay cubes 2x2 that we are soaking in five gallon buckets
and pouring the mixture on the iris beds. We are cleaning the old foliage
from the iris as we go along fertilizing each bed. The snow has been melted
for a couple weeks here. One bed I cleaned today was still frozen about
three inches into the soil. So far out of about 200 iris I only found two
soft rhizomes that I treated with comet and removed the soft areas. We have
everything with new growth. Should I fertilize with more than the alfalfa?
I have lots of rebloomers. If I need to add something else to the
rebloomers, what do you recommend? Still have two thirds of our iris to
complete. Janet & Shan, Billings Montana ,Zone 4
