Janet and Shan, I fertilize rebloomers the same as everything else
(although since their spring bloom is usually very early, I do this with
the IBs and SDBs) until after bloom time. I use alfalfa meal or pellets
(whichever the feed store has handy; they never know if they are selling
me an item for my horses or my iris!) and a low N, balanced granular
fertilizer, also from said feed store. It is after spring bloom that
the rebloomers get special treatment, that includes constant (not wet!)
moisture and extra food whenever they look like they need a boost. I do
use half strength miracle grow for this and have never lost one to rot.
I may feed them as often as every two weeks. This is a lot more food
than most people give them, but I have my advise from the late Monty
Byers, and it has always stood me in good stead. I generally have much
more rebloom than others in this same area. In addition, I can
sometimes get CA rebloomers only to rebloom for me here in Missouri, if
they also get the very most favored positions.
