Different strokes for different folks. RED ECHO is one of my
very favorite LA's and always wins a blue ribbon when entered in a
show. It has perfect zigzag branching and can open five flowers at
once perfectly displayed on one stalk. Probably, your preference
is with the newer, frilly LA's with all the bugles, whistles, etc. that
don't look like LA's anymore. And, that's ok. RE expresses the
older, species form in all of its glory, yet it is not all that old. Henry
Rowlan had the magic touch when he created this iris. RE will
always have a place in my garden. I have never seen it invasive or
offensive.
RE won an AM, so it has other fanciers who consider it more
than a dandelion.
I would love to hear your comments on BAYOU BANDIT.

now that is a good space ager with those gigantic spoons...done in
orchid pink. I think I like it better than MARGARET INEZ, lighter
pink with smaller horns and baby spoons)
