Re: Re: LA: Bayou Short Stuff, etc.

Hello Everyone:

I agree w/ Kathy Poore in OKC, the shorter La. irises are really nice. I
like the taller ones too, but the shorter ones lend themselves to easy
viewing and also they can help out in the landscape where one might want a
shorter plant.

Bernard Pryor, an Australian hybridizer who will, I predict, soon make
waves in the La. world, is developing shorter Louisianas...which he refers
to as his "Water Sprites."

The Society for Louisiana Irises is getting ready to consider establishing
official height categories. It would be good for the SLI leadership to
hear a wide spectrum of thoughts and suggestions on this. In particular,
I'd like to hear suggested names for the possible categories...and maximum
heights.

P.S. I took a whole bunch of BAYOU SHORT STUFF to our local show here in
Little Rock last Sunday, and got blue ribbons not only for the single
stalk, but also I used it in our collections categories. BSS is a
workhorse in the garden. It is by Bobo Faggard of Beaumont, Texas.
