Every day brings new blooms here. The pretties are popping! Blooming now
are Sign of Leo, a big beautiful three year old clump to be divided this
year, Breakers, Belvi Queen, Buckwheat just opened this morning, Hilo
Shores has many short stalks and finally one opened this morning, this
plant in general is disappointing in the short stalks and lack of vigor.
Best Bet has several big tall stalks with huge blooms, Saxon is open and
one of my favorites since it has been a very reliable and beautiful
rebloomer for me. Caramba is making its debut here along with Rancho
Rose and Point Made, what a surprise that one is!! Very odd and different
combination, I think I like it! Batik continues to be an all time
favorite, Superstition and Brother Carl all continue to bloom well. I
have a giant speciman of Gallent Moment blooming near the house while out
in the raised beds, another one is very ordinary. Victoria Falls opened
yesterday along with Stepping Out, Suky and Colorbrite. Coral Chalice is
a nice big clump this year with lots of stalks and I think I like that
pastel pretty more and more every year! Immortality has finally taken
hold and has lots of blooms. It too has been a decent rebloomer for me
but has taken 3 or 4 years to decide to perform well. Some of the new
dwarf and medians from Beautiful View have done well and blooms are
beginning to wane on Apricot Frosty, Orange Petals, Lemon Pop, Promises
Promises, and Leilani Kai; Mini Busy, Plum Wine, Petite Polka, Fairy
Footsteps are all about done. New from Suttons last year and blooming now
are Bethany Clair, another Low Ho Silver, Off Broadway, Summer Holiday,
Gibson Girl and Radiant Angel, surprisingly pretty. Harvest of Memories
opened today. Royal Summer is also blooming along side Rosalie Figge
which I think is prettier, I guess time will tell which does best in the
garden. Spreckles seems to fit its name. Coalignition is another
surprise, the deep rich color and those striking beards! Autumn Circus is
also blooming along with Touch of Spring, we'll see which of those
reblooms best. Tennesee Gentleman is blooming for the first time, seems
to be reluctant. Well, I have many many others that have stalks up and
each day I get new surprises. The anticipation is half the pleasure I
think, especially in cases like Coalignition and Point Made when they
turn out to be so striking. My very first Arilbreds have all survived
their first winter and Zizah has bloomed and Oyez is real close to
opening I think, these are the first ones I've ever seen so I have
nothing to compare with! What a wonderful time of year!I have spent the
last 3 or 4 years putting in these new beds and now I will probably spend
the next 10 evaluating and arranging them. Thanks to all the iris talk
people for the help and sharing information.
