Re: TB: CULT: when chopping stalks, how low do you go?

I believe in going down to the rz. Some people snap the stalk by sharply
moving what I'd say front to back, back and forth quickly and it snaps at
the rz. If this doesn't work, and sometimes it doesn't for me and I use a
knife and cut the stalk off at the rz so that the cut shows white - not
slightly greenish, but dead white. And it (the cut) should be so hard you
can't make a fingernail print - hard as -- trying to stick a fingernail in a
turnip or potato or ? If you leave a greenish-white - that helps rot to set
in ---- at least that is my idea of removing stalks! Rosalie nr Baltimore
