Well, I never!!!  How could wives be so brow-beaten!  I guess I had an 
indulgent husband like Kathy;s,  there was no need for such shenanigans!  I 
remember when we were at some scientific convention in N.Y.City and I 
mentioned I was going to Cartier's, Tiffany's, Sak's and a few other places 
like that, and one of my husband's colleagues asked if he wasn't worried (and 
he was a very mild spoken, usually)  and he replied "H----, no!  I only worry 
when she says she's going to Gimbel's!"   In other words, he knew I was only 
sightseeing -- and knew the limitations - and respected them ---- anything 
iris was acceptable -- more plants, less lawn to mow  (we won't mention the 
weeding -- that's therapy!)  All I can say "those poor spinelss women!"  But 
maybe the husbands really knew and was just playing the game?   Rosalie nr
