Unfortunately the baby bunny found them today and ate most of them. I was
mortified!! I managed to save a few of the C. venestus and C. luteus by
putting up a makeshift fence out of chickenwire, and also a plastic milk
crate.
Anyway, to answer your question, I planted them last September/October. I
bought 25 of each species from mail order sources (Brent & Becky's Bulbs, I
think). And I planted them in with my regular bearded irises. I have very
sandy soil, and they seem to really like it.
I love them, but unfortunately so does the baby bunny. :(
