RE: CAT: Chuck Chapman's Irises


Hi Betty,

I'm really glad that you made it to Chuck's place.  We practically tripped
over the black plicata seedling last year.  It was in Chuck's old garden and
we were checking out what was left there.  I think it was Sandy who saw it
first.  And folks, this one is really black, not dark purple.  You have to
look closely to see that it is a really deep purple.  But its value as a
garden plant still needs to be assessed so it is some years away from
introduction.
