I stoped getting the AIS bulletin as it seemed to me to have more for
hybridizers than the common gardener. But am much interested in this rotter
list. I put forward a year ago a question about the new hybrids being less
hardy, the response was soil and conditions and etc.
As I am trying to have a small retail business I have had several set backs:
spring rot, last summer being a rainy one, summer rot, and when rzs heave
late winter rot. So I think there are many rotten iris out there.
One type BB like an Edith Wolford but plainer is a survivor. Can't kill it.
And although I have picked and crushed every borer casing last summer and
spied no moths at dusk or dawn ( had butterfly net at the ready)
and sprayed cygon 2E profusely at just the prescribed right time I have borer
and borer rot!
I interestingly have this spring, found some borer pupae still viable, a few
borer larvea with their pincher like jaws. So I think the borer cycle has
expanded , increasing its survival rate.
Please send me list of hardy iris and list of rotters so I can finally have
my business be sucessful.
