This is interesting and new information to me.  I had always thought it
didn't matter.  So PBF might be more dictated by the pod parent; possibly
size, vigor, disease resistance, and branching might also tend that way?
Might explain why a 64" seedling of mine crossed onto the BB Shenanigan gave
BB babies.  I was  hoping for an average.  Should have gone the other way, I
guess.  I'm thinking the flower itself might be less sensitive to the
direction of the cross.  Do you have any opinion on what characteristics
might be particularly direction-sensitive?  (I'm sending this to iris-talk,
though I hope Bill Shear will answer, because I think a lot of us would like
to know.  Anyone else have an opinion?)
