I personally feel that if an iris cannot be successfully grown in at least
80-90% of the gardens in any reasonable climate, or if it does not perform
at least average for its class, that beauty and distictiveness alone should
not be sufficient to award a Dykes medal. (But please, don't give it to an
ugly weed!)
I like TB's best, but as for unkillability (so it's not a word, it works)
and dramatic show spurias are pretty impressive here. They don't need
separating and they don't rot or get leaf spot. I don't know how they
perform in cold winter areas.
