Thanks Neil, Arnold and Sterling,
I'll definitely be paying more attention now to
branching and budcount. But also I'll have to note if
the blooms open over a long time ('Rosemarys Dream' is
one I remember being excellent for this) and I'll have
to make sure deformed flowers aren't common.
I think it's worth it though. If we can increase the
number of blooms (and especially if we can extend the
duration of bloom), we've added "garden value" even if
the individual flower has not been changed.
Oh, and I'll be sending out my order today that
includes 'Crystal Ruffles'. High bud count or not,
that's a pretty little diploid.
