I wonder if rinsing the bleach off the rhizones with a bit of vinegar in the first rinse and after ten or fifteen minutes rinsing the rhizomes with clear water to remove any vinegar residue. Does anyone have any thoughts or information about this?
Thank you for the information about vinegar Anner.

I think this is a good place to mention something I learned here which has been real useful in dealing with bleach, whether one is sloshing irises, or swabbing down the shower, or whatever. Someone once mentioned that if one rinses ones hands in vinegar after, it neutralizes the bleach residue and stops any burning sensation. I have found this effective.
