Re: HYB: I got agouti - beard pigment


The horizontal color variations seem to be common, but it isn't a topic
we've discussed in detail here.  Or at least not that I recall.  Might
check the archives.  If you find out more outside this forum, please
share.

This must be the year for noticing such things - one of my seedlings had
a brick red stripe on lighter ground.  Overall effect wasn't anything
unusual, only up close.

< So, now I wanna know about this agouti trait.  I know a few breeders
have worked with beard colors...like tangerine, or pink beards on blue
iris...but has anyone noticed this striping before?  Is it possible that
carefull evaluation of the agout patterns in a beard might reveal hidden
genetic traits like how many t's in a tangerine?
