Chuck, Yes we give a test. It is required in Region 17 that a test be given with a minimum of 10 questions per hour of training. They are written but open book / open notes. The questions are usually on the basics, for example: True or False 1. A Tall Bearded iris must be at least 27 1/2" tall. 2. A Tall Bearded iris must have at least 9 buds. 3. A new and unusual color is the perfect reason to introduce an iris. 4. An iris is given 10 points for reblooming. 5. Judges may vote their ballot from a picture as long as it is in color. And so on. Frequently questions are fill in the blank... but generally the tests are not tricky or tough, rather designed to be sure the trainee was paying attention to what the handbook states. Thanks, Dana Dana Brown ddbro@sbcglobal.net Malevil Iris Gardens & Kennels www.malevil-iris.com I own a dog and I vote!! ________________________________ From: "irischapman@aim.com" <irischapman@aim.com> To: iris@hort.net Sent: Thu, May 20, 2010 2:18:40 PM Subject: [iris] Re: Garden Training Question A question for all AIS judge that give Garden Tutoring sessions.
