Greetings, Iris Lovers.
We bought a new house last summer. It had been vacant over a year.
Someone had obviously put a lot of work into the landscape/garden, but
it was difficult to tell what all we had.
What a pleasant surprise as spring came. I have irises all over. They
are beautiful. I'm hooked. The first blooms opened about a month ago.
I had a couple of huge lavender blooms. They were followed by a few
beautiful pink-salmon color. Then I found some darker yellows and a
couple of maroon and yellow bicolors. Now I have some more blooming on
the side of our garage....several are white with dark purple borders. I
even have some that are dark maroon. Sorry I don't know the technical
jargon, but I will learn. That's why I'm here. This is a great place!
I'm hoping I can find out what varieties I have. Can anyone recommend a
good reference for the major varieties?
Anyway, the local Iris club has invited me to their next meeting and I
plan to join up.
Well....watch out now for my "novice" questions.... :-)
