Hello everyone,
My name is Coralie Staff, but friends call me Corte
(pronounced Court). I live in Stratford, CT, region 1
of the AIS, and USDA zone 6.
My property is small (75' X 100'), so I don't grow vast
quantities of any plant, but iris and daylilies are the
principal inhabitants of my gardening space. I also grow
roses, perennials, annuals, vegetables, spring flowering bulbs, some shade and
woodland type plants, and some flowering shrubs (viburnum, lilac, hydrangea,
Mountain Laurel, etc.).
I find that my gardening interests are way too expansive for the size of my
garden, and I wish I owned land that allowed me to grow many more irises than I
do. Most of my Irises are TB, but I have a handful of SDB, SIB and a couple of
SPU. I tried LA a few times, but without much success.
TB hybridizing fascinates me. I have attempted several crosses over the years,
but have ditched all of the results so far. I guess my crosses were not well
thought out, or
I just don't understand enough about genetics to choose the
right parents to achieve specific goals. This is one reason
for joining IRIS-L. I hope to solicit some advise from those
in-the-know about such things.
Looking forward to hearing from all iris lovers, and making
new friends!
