Your unknown iris may be HELEN COLLINGWOOD ( Smith, 1949). This is described
as having blue-white, almost white, standards and deep velvety purple falls.
This iris is a vigorous grower, and is exceptional in that it routinely
blooms in the shade. Rather famous for this trait. It is very beautiful,
especially massed in the landscape.

Of course you will need to find someone growing HELEN COLLINGWOOD and mooch a
bloom to compare up close with yours before you can say that this actually is
the right name, because it could be one of many things.
