Al, I don't know where Concord, CA is (and am too tired right now to look it
up in the atlas), but if your iris in pots can stand 100 degrees it seems
worth while for me to try it. I did put some in a half barrel last year
where the path in the backyard widened out and split -- put in a big,
beautiful purple iris and 3 that had been labeled as whites; also some
yellow daylilies. When the purple bloomed this year it wasn't nearly as
good looking as the previous year -- and there wasn't a single white bloom.
However, there WAS a lovely light yellow that kept blooming for quite a while!
Gardening is full of surprises, isn't it?
