Rusty... the AIS Convention is in Dearborn, Michigan the first week of June
(don't have the dates in front of me). A convention is a fantastic place to
meet folks, see flowers and get educated. If you can get to this one...
fantastic! If not, set your sights on the future because they are like
Disneyland for iris folks.
Regarding your iris bloom... don't worry too much about it. Some irises sulk
for a year or two before they get going. We have a local member who gives
them a verbal warning on year two of no bloom. They usually bloom on year
three. Whoever said that irises SHOULD bloom the first year must live in
Paradise. We advise folks in the western New York area to NOT expect bloom
the first year.... to expect 60% the second year and 99% the third year.
We all have too much stress in our lives... don't let the thing you do for
FUN be another source of stress! Just give those balky irises a severe
talking to!
