HYB: Self Pollination

I have a question for the hybridizers. Is there a difference between
self pollination and bee pollination? I was made to believe self
pollination was the plant pollinated itself and consequently, the
offspring was garbage. Bee pollination, I take it, is nothing more than
the bee pollinated the plant with pollen from another plant or also
could be pollen from itself. Am I correct in all of these assunptions?
